PM Mitsotakis welcomes Greeks living abroad

“We are very happy to welcome you today at the Maximos Mansion. It is very important for us for you to be able to get in touch with the homeland, to keep alive the spirit of Hellenism, to practice the language. You must know that we will always welcome you with love, with a smile,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday welcoming the young men and women who participate in the “#NOSTOS” programme of the tripartite cooperation Greece-Cyprus-Egypt.

“Hellenism abroad is a very great force for our country and I hope and wish your generation to have even closer ties with the homeland. I think that you will keep inside you very beautiful moments from this trip,” Mitsotakis said.

The Prime Minister reportedly referred to the relations between the three countries, which, as he stressed, are at an excellent level. “Relations at the political level are very close, as you know. But it is very important that the three countries of the Eastern Mediterranean be able to strengthen ties at the level of civil society, especially for the younger generation.”

Mitsotakis stressed the importance of language and encouraged them to use the new tools, the new technology, “so that we can help you speak Greek better. And now language learning is not only done in the traditional way.

With significant new digital tools, and not only with the ‘staellinika’

platform.” As he said there are many other platforms but the best way to speak the language, he added, is to visit Greece.
